If you are using Digital Ocean to host your perforce server, you’ll know it costs about $6 to keep the server going at a minimum. But what if you aren’t actively working on the project due to other responsibilities? The money will keep getting drained unless you Destroy the droplet, but then you’d lose all the change list history.
The solution I’ve found is to take a snapshot of the droplet. Digital Ocean lets you create snapshots of droplets that can easily be restored into a functioning droplet. Snapshots are much cheaper – costing 5 cents per month for each gigabyte. So a 5 gigabyte snapshot will run you 25 cents every month – a savings of 95%!

This way you can pause development on a project and return to it when you’re ready. Hope this helps!
